GIVEAWAY: Take the Dove Body Wash #OneShowerChallenge

When I think of quality body washes for sensitive skin, Dove is the first to come to mind.

Its signature, creamy formula is now improved to provide an even more luxurious shower experience. The new body washes are infused with a milder cleanser (Glycinate) coupled with super moisturizing components making it a great choice for those with sensitive skin like me.

NEW Dove Body Washes are available at food, drug, mass, value, club and online retailers, $6.99.

Also, unlike most shower cleansers that boast a gentler formula, the lather I’ve come to love is pretty non-existent. Luckily, that’s not the case with these washes. I can suds up and still leave the shower feeling clean and moisturized all without compromising my easily irritated skin.  Oh and did I mention, I felt an immediate difference after ONE shower! Usually, results aren’t noticed until after a few uses, but my skin was smoother and softer following my first use.

If you like milder body washes and looking for a new one, definitely give Dove a go! Plus, who doesn’t love how the brand uplifts and encourages women to just be our naturally beautiful selves?

Check out their latest video, “Legacy,” that speaks to how we mothers pass our beauty ideals and insecurities on to our daughters:

  1. I believe young girls don’t need make-up. Looking natural and keeping their skin clean, and moisturized is best. Just be who you are, and don’t be afraid to go natural. Few women decide to show themselves that way.

I agree with you! I didn’t start wearing makeup until I was probably 16. While I enjoy playing in makeup (I’m a beauty junkie), I still try not to go overboard with loads of foundation, blush, etc. I prefer a more natural look with a bit of enhancement. I think if a girl is under the age of 16 all the makeup she needs is a little lip balm/gloss. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Amy Orvin says:

I inspire by young nieces to embrace their natural beauty by being a good example. I tell them that they are beautiful no matter what. I tell them that they don’t need make-up or diets. I also tell them just to be themselves!!

    • Brown Girl Gumbo says:

Telling your nieces to just be themselves is the best advice you can give them! Thanks so much for sharing, Amy!

  3. I come from a huge family of women. (I have 6 sisters and 9 nieces) It has always been important to me to spread the idea of self love and respect. Society often tells us how to look or how we should act, but to me it’s so important to promote individuality. Our young black girls and girls in general face so much adversity even within their own communities, so as often as I can I try to instill in their minds that beauty comes from within. I am always uplifting them and telling them that they are beautiful, that their hair is beautiful, and that they need to keep a pleasant and positive attitude for the world to see! If they don’t believe in their own power, and strength, how could anyone else?

    • Brown Girl Gumbo says:

I couldn’t agree with you more! I’m constantly telling my 4-year-old daughter how beautiful and smart she is. I always compliment her hair because I didn’t have that growing up. So many women in my generation have major issues when it comes to our hair and its varying textures. I think we’re now embracing our hair and passing that on to our young girls! Kudos to you for promoting individuality in our communities!

  4. I try to be a good role model and lead by example. I encourage them to dream and think big and invest time and sometimes by money through fundraisers in any activities that they are involved in.

    • Brown Girl Gumbo says:

Leading by example is the best way to show our young girls how to be successful, etc. Thanks so much for sharing!

  5. Erica Best says:

as a adult learn to love my self as i am and when i have kids i want to do the same things

  6. I love working with youth in 4-H and helping them be their best you. In a project called fashion revue/modeling squad…youth learn about clothing construction and proper attire and deal with self esteem issures

    • Brown Girl Gumbo says:

That’s awesome! So many young girls don’t have the proper guidance and/or tools when it comes to proper attire for certain situations and/or environments. Hats off to you for working with the youth and trying to instill a sense of self-worth.

  7. My advice to any young girls has been always the same as my mother did to me. She told me girls are like flowers. Each flower is unique by having different color, size or smell. My parents were more about the beauty of the mind. Is great to teach young girls to like their bodies and learn to enjoy dressing up to feel good but not to compete instead to strive to be an individual.
Fathers should always compliment their daughters so they learn to accept and enjoy admiration from a man.

  8. Brown Girl Gumbo says:

Thanks to all who entered the giveaway!! The winner is Livivia!! Congratulations!!
