Happy MLK & Inauguration Day!

I can’t think of a more fitting way to celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. than the second swearing in of the first African-American president of the United States—Barack Obama.

Having a African-American leading the free world is more than Dr. King could’ve ever imagined happening in only two decades after his death.

While I’m not in D.C. this year, I did have the pleasure and honor of attending the inauguration in 2009. Despite the chilly temps, it was an electrifying occasion that I’m proud to have witnessed.  My sister will serve as the unofficial BGG correspondent tonight as she’ll be attending the main ball! Hopefully, she can get a few candid shots of the stars in attendance!

My buddy Rashadd and me braving the elements!

Out of the mass crowd, I managed to run into my buddy, Rashadd, from high school!

The crowd was amped for the inauguration!

There were many people holding signs displaying their religious viewpoints.

The crowd was amped with excitement and anticipation as we headed to the mall! inauguration!

“We, the people.

Throughout our history, we’ve expanded the meaning of our nation’s founding phrase, to include more and more of our citizens because we believe that the American dream isn’t about any one person or segment of society. It’s about all of us, working together to move forward.

That’s also what this election is about. And it’s why I’m voting for President Barack Obama.”
