Healthy Snacking: Fresh Fruits!

This summer I’ve tried to curb my appetite for sugary sweets like gummi bears and Skittles. Instead, I’ve opted for delicious fresh fruits. We all need to make a conscious effort to make fruits a part of our daily diets.

The summer is the best season to get your hands on a the freshest fruits available and for a more affordable price. Right now, the fruits in season are: blueberries, blackberries, apples, melons, grapes, nectarines and peaches. Add them to a salad or keep them at work for a healthy snack.

So put down those sugary snacks and head to your local farmer’s market or produce store to stock up on fruits that are tasty and good for you!

  1. I put blueberries, peaches and bananas in my cereal (one fruit at a time). I also make smoothies as much as I can! They’re so yummy.

  4. BGG, I just finished a bowl of fruit and it was delicious! I also had a breakfast taco. I hope my fruit still counts! 🙂

  6. I absolutely love strawberries and blueberries. This summer I’ve also changed my diet to get away from the candy. i’ve been eating lots of fruit.

  9. @Karen: I agree; smoothies rock! I’m trying to get more into green smoothies which is just fruit mixed with spinach, kale or other green veggies…still tastes sweet though.

    I love fruit…grapefruit, grapes, plums, peaches, pears, pineapple, cantelope, strawberries, bananas, blueberries, etc.. I even like sucking on lemons. Fruit is great. I don’t think there’s one that I don’t like.

  13. Hey BGG! My favorite fruit are oranges,(its become a great replacement for sour straws/sour patches), as well as grapes and apples.

    No has mentioned mangos…but i am from miami so this may be more a tropical fruit…also like pineapples, watermelon and star fruit.

    I’m a fruit so not only do I love fruit but I can eat just about any fruit you put in front of me.
    On hot days I take grapes and freeze them to snack on.
