Everything old is new again and makeup is no exception. During my high school and early college days, dark, muted lips were all the rage and it looks like it’s making a strong comeback this season. Celebrities such as Rihanna, Kelly Rowland and Chanel Iman all have been seen out and about sporting dark plums and berry-colored lips.
Lip color is definitely a fun and easy way to switch up your look without the commitment. I can’t say that I really like those purple lips on Rhianna but I do love purple hued lips! I think it works best on our darker complexed brown girls. I suggest wearing varying hues of purple sparingly for that extra pop of color!

I loved the purplish hue on Rihanna and that is what caught my eye. I am anxious to try it however, not with dark color clothing.

im glad this purple trend is back b/c i bought ‘bing’ from mac last year and i’ve worn it maybe 3x. im trying to get more wear out of it. it’s a deep eggplant purple and its really pretty alone (if you just put chapstick or something under) or mixed with a lipglass like ‘decorative’
I would love to try something new. I would have to figure out how to rock it though.

I’m feel like I’m turning into my mom with what I’m about to say, but: Once is enough with this horrible trend. I’m going to keep my lips light. I MIGHT try red, but that’s a big might.

When I first saw Rihanna in that color, I was in love. I think it is a beautiful shade. The color that Chanel Iman is wearing is lovely as well. In fact I like all three shades!
It reminds me of Bing from the MAC cult of cherry collection.

I like the shades on Chanel Iman & Kelly Rowland. I’m not sure if I’m bold enough to wear the shade Rihanna is wearing. I’ve never worn a purple shade of lipstick but would definitely give it a try. I think the lipstick and nail polish shades for autumn and winter are so pretty this year. I’m glad to see some of these shades making a comeback.

I love the purple, but I look like a vampire with it because of my pale skin. I think this is one trend that I’m skipping.
BGG, i want to thank you for this post! i’d just been thinking about how needed to get some new colors for lipstick. i went right out and bought the plum perfect and mauve-alicious (and some other colors as well). i’ve gotten compliments all week! thanks for your suggestions =)
