Skinny in a Cinch!

When it comes to clothes or accessories that accentuate my waist, I’m all for it. What woman doesn’t like to highlight her smallest part? That’s why this upcoming fall season, it’s all about the skinny belt!

From faux crocodile to luxurious suede, skinny belts are all the rage. They can easily add a splash of color to an otherwise, bland black frock while instantly create a stunning silouhette. Whether worn with a pair of slacks, over a long cardigan or with a high-waisted pencil skirt, skinny belts will update your wardrobe in a cinch!

  1. I think I’ve finally debugged the belt myth! I never knew which belts went with which types of outfits. Apparently, skinny belts work best with separates, and long sweaters/blouses and jackets, while medium to wide belts work best on dresses. Dresses made from flowy materials work best with a ribbon belt. This was one of the conundrums of life for me.

  2. I am looovin’ that Ann Taylor belt. How season appropriate! I usually wear skinny belts in the fall/winter months with warmer clothes. I love them!

  3. BGG, you gotta be kidding me! I wish I could wear a skinny belt. The last time I tried to wear one it got lost in between my stomachs! In fact, the last time I tried a wide belt it just mushed my top stomach above the belt and the bottom stomach below the belt. It was not pretty nor comfortable. So, for me, no belts…thank you for asking. Just so you know, three babies ago, I didn’t even need a belt cause I was just that fine and curvatious! Awww to be young again!

  4. i like the look of both when done properly but personally for me i like the wide belt better…great selections! i especially love the faux croc

  5. What a timely post! I’m in the market for new belts.

I’m going to hunt down the Ann Taylor one!

  6. I prefer the wide belt to cover up my baby keg that I need to work on making smaller

  7. I saw a skinny belt over a long vest with a sheath and I must admit, I was in love. Great post!

  8. while i think they are super cute, i dont like skinny belts on wider people so i think im gonna pass on the skinny belt this season. if they stick around as long as it takes for me to lose this weight, i’ll be picking up some of the ones u picked.

  9. I love the Claudio Orciani one… that’s hot

  10. These are so cute. I just bought a new skinny belt, my first in a long time and find it so versatile.

  11. i’m loving this trend, tres chic!

cute belts, i really like the Claudio Orciani one.

  13. ghvcijcFirst I want to said thank you to BGG and to Erica for enlightening me on the use of belts. With that said I love Ann Taylor and the Diesel.

  14. Skinny or wide, as long as it’s cute, I’m all for it. But I must admit, skinny belts have only recently begun to catch my eye a little more. I just bought a leopard print one from H&M.

  15. I like the belts you have featured but I prefer the large leather belts for my wardrobe. The belts you have here are cute though.
    thanks

  16. Belts and bracelets are my favorite accessories! I definitely favor wide belts.

  17. I prefer the wider belts. The skinny ones are cute but I’m never quite sure when to wear it and with what.

  18. Great picks!!! Especially loving the textured (croc) and studded one!

  19. You know, I’m not really into belts. In fact, until this summer I owned only one basic black belt to wear with my pants that are too lose in the waist. I would like to incorporate more belts in my wardrobe (I like the wide belts), but I am not sure exactly when and how to wear them. I want a look that says style, but not “too much” for a relatively non-flashy wardrobe.

    What do you think?

  20. Hmm……. I only wear belts at work, but thanks for the tips!

  21. Love this look! I have tons of skinny belts. xx

  22. off topic (not much in to belts) how is holanta book
and when u gone read one of mine jones -lol

  23. I think it depends on what you are wearing and what kind of look you’re going for. I recently snagged a skinny belt that used to be my grandma’s and it instantly gives anything an old school, retro feel. ( I guess because it IS retro lol!) I still heart the larger belts though. There’s someting about big accessories that are just fab.

  24. @Everyone, I love both skinny and wide belts. The truth is that no matter what you prefer, they both make you look fab! 🙂

  25. Anonymous says:

I’m not a belt kinda girl but if I was I’d definitely buy the Claudio Orciani

  26. @Torrance – HOTLANTA is great. Go out and get a copy for the teen girls in your family.

I’d love to read one of your books. 🙂
