7 Stylish Studs & Ear Cuffs

Now that my baby boy is  almost 9 months old, my beloved hoop earrings have been forced to take a backseat.

Like most babies, his curious nature has resulted in broken earrings and painful, pulled lobes. So until he no longer finds my classic gold hoops fascinating, I’ll be opting for more baby-friendly styles like cute cuffs and eye-catching studs to adorn my ears.

Denim Overalls for Spring: Over or In?

I never thought the day would come when overalls would be considered stylish again.

From Rihanna to Ashley Madekwe, over the past year or so, celebrities and street-style fashionistas have been sporting them out and about. Luckily, this time around they’re cropping up in slimmer, more flattering designs and fits.

Back in the 90s, I like many other teens confidently rocked the farmer chic fashion staple. I remember begging my mom for a pricey pair of oversize Calvin Klein aka “CK” overalls from Marshall Field’s (my Chicago readers will remember that store) much to her dismay, but she bought them anyway. They were at least three sizes too big, but back then the bigger and baggier the better! Clearly, I wanted to look like TLC’s long lost fourth member. But in fashion, even the most notoriously questionable styles make a comeback.

While I’m not totally opposed to this popular trend, I’m also not convinced that it lends itself to the over-30 set.

Cool Spring Styles for Kids at The Children’s Place

When it comes to buying clothes for my kids, The Children’s Place is my go-to store.

Ever since Ava was a newborn, I’ve been shopping at the kid-centric store. They have fashionable clothes that are comfortable and affordable.  Usually when you find kids’ clothing that isn’t overly expensive, the quality is usually compromised. Luckily, that is not the case at The Children’s Place.

Ava-TCPAva visiting The Children’s Place located in Union Square (NYC).

From seasonal dresses to fun graphic tees to girly accessories, Ava always enjoys a visit to TCP. The fact that there’s one only 3 blocks away from our apartment makes it even easier and convenient to stop by and browse the latest styles. In fact, we’ve been to the store three times in the last two weeks!

Now that I have a 6-month-old son, I’ve been hitting up the boys’ side of the store and have been equally impressed. The items aren’t overrun with licensed characters, which is a nod to its design aesthetic. The clothes are on-trend and practical.

It’s hard to believe that TCP wasn’t established until 1989 (when I was 9-years-old). I don’t remember ever shopping there as a child, but if I had, I probably would’ve been one of the best-dressed kids on the block!

Warner’s and Olga New Bras Banish Side Bulge

Lately, my evenings have been filled with baby feedings and finding new ways to keep my 4-year-old busy before bedtime. But, thanks to Warner’s and Olga I was given the opportunity to take a much-needed mommy break to learn about their latest launch and have my first bra fitting.

Although I was unfamiliar with the bra brand prior to the event, I was excited to have a professional take my measurements and reveal my true size. To be honest, I have been buying a 34B since high school. While my weight hasn’t fluctuated that much throughout the years, my breasts have changed since having two children.

Since I am nursing, I figured that my size would be much bigger than normal. I was right and wrong. The width I have been purchasing all these years have been off a size (I’m actually a 32) and the cup size was one size larger (due to nursing).

brasWarner’s “No Side Effects” bras are available mid-February at retailers nationwide including Kohls.com, $38

Warner’s new “No Side Effects”  (Olga has the “On Your Side” plus-size offering) bra provides excellent coverage which prevents that unsightly “sleevage” that we women suffer from no matter our size. There’s a swath of extra fabric that smooths the area that tends to bulge while wearing sleeveless tops creating a sleek look. Plus, these bras have cushy padding on the straps for a comfy fit.

Not only did I learn my actual bra size, I was also able to try out the new bra under two super cute vegan leather Sanctuary tops that were gifted at the end of the event:

warner-6Initially I thought this top was dark brown, but it’s really a deep wine color.

I love that the sides of this top are stretchy.

Have you ever been professionally bra-fitted? Do you ever suffer from “sleevage?”
